we also perform amazing finishing too! What that means for you is that we can bind your books ready for reading, your projects ready for submission or your dissertations ready for review. There are four kinds of binding available to our customers – here is a brief run through of their advantages.

Comb binding

Our budget option is fixed with a plastic comb. The benefits here include cost effectiveness along side a non-permanent bind. Books bound with a plastic comb are capable of being laid out flat on a table – which can be very handy for college projects that require marking, or for short run workbooks. Some very large documents can be bound with this kind of spine, up to around 400 80gsm pages.

Wire binding (Wiro)

A step up from the cheaper comb binding is our wire binding service. This type of binding is more permanent and not easily removable which is great for documents that need a bit more longevity, like handbooks and manuals. Again these binds allow for your document to be laid out flat for reading. Our machines can bind up to around 120 sheets of standard 80gsm paper.

Channel binding (Metal channel)

For a more book like feel we recommend our metal channel binding. This bind rather than punching holes in your document is clamped together tightly giving a feel more akin to a professionally bound book you might buy from the shops. These binds look great and also have the added benefit of being easily removed by our machinery, allowing for extra pages to be inserted at a later date, without harming the pages bound inside. The only real disadvantage to this bind is that they do not open out flat, which means they might not be suitable for projects that need marking, or workbooks. We can bind up to around 300 pages of 80gsm stock with this method of binding.

Hard Back Binding (Dissertation Binding)

Our premium binding service is of course hard back binding. These binds offer a very professional look, suitable for dissertations, thesis and small scale publishing. They consist of a linen finish metal spine with linen finish hard board covers. Gold lettering on both the spine and the face is available if you need it, which makes these documents a great addition to any library. Again these are suitable up to around 300 pages, however if you need to publish a very large thesis remember we can of course use two volumes.

All of our binds are available in a range of colours and don’t forget we also offer transparent acetate covers alongside textured card. If you require very small documents bound we can also offer a couple of free staples!
